What You Need to Know about Invisalign

It was a little more than a decade ago that a pre-teen individual with crooked teeth still went to the orthodontist, got fitted for braces for a year or so, and then had perfectly straight teeth as he or she entered into high school. Invisalign changed all that in 2000, when they first came out into the market. No more wires or rubber bands to have in your mouth; just get a mold of your teeth, take some 3D images of your mouth, and in a short amount of time your Invisalign braces are ready for you to wear.
Ronald Thompson, who is the owner and dentist at East Valley Dental Care, provides Invisalign to the Mesa, AZ community through his practice. The Mesa, AZ cosmetic dentist has seen great results with Invisalign and shares his experience and expertise in this area of dental care.

Not Just for Aesthetics
Although many may think it plain vanity to want straight teeth, there is are medical reasons why one should use products like Invisalign to straighten one’s smile. Thompson points out that crooked teeth are harder to clean and thus this could lead to periodontal disease. Due t o the formation of your teeth in your mouth you are unable to get to all of areas of your teeth and gums; hence, bone loss becomes quicker. Moreover, greater calculus build up (tartar) is common to people with uneven teeth.
Keep the Invisalign Braces in Your Mouth
While Invisalign can be easily taken out of your mouth, Thompson warns that you will not reach the desired look you want for your teeth if you continually take the braces out at your every whim. You don’t eat with our Invisalign. And when you brush your teeth, you need to clean (or brush) your braces as well. While some do find it annoying to have to brush your teeth after every meal when you wear Invisalign, the benefits of being able to consume all types of food is a nice plus, when you compare to some of the dietary restriction with traditional metal brackets.
Invisalign Being Used in Difficult Orthodontic Cases
While there was a knock on Invisalign before by not being able to fix various types of malocclusion, this is beginning not to be the case any longer. With the advancement in the product, nearly all malocclusions can be fixed by wearing Invisalign braces today.
The price point for Invisalign is roughly the same as for traditional braces, so that should not deter you from checking out if this is the correct route for you to pursue with your dental care. Speak to our dentist and figure out if Invisalign is a good fit for you.
