What Are Cost Efficient But Effective Cosmetic Treatments?

At Houston Smile Docs, resident dentist Isabelle Farmer is an expert at restoring and enhancing smiles. From regular cleanings to dental veneers, Houston, TX residents can get it all at her full-service office. However, she says, when patients come into the office looking to make big changes to their smiles for relatively little cost, the most common treatments recommended are teeth whitening solutions and cosmetic recontouring. Both of these options are able to deliver the noticeable changes that patients tend to seek.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening has long remained the most popular cosmetic option available. Dr. Farmer offers a power bleaching process, which has proven to be a highly effective way to whiten teeth in a short period of time. The treatment starts with the use of a powerful hydrogen peroxide bleach treatment given in the office to jump-start the process. This is then followed by the use of at-home bleaching trays for two additional weeks. At the end of this period, Dr. Farmer will do a one-hour whitening session in the office to bring teeth to that optimal level of whiteness and ensure that patients achieve their desired results.

Cosmetic Recontouring

Oftentimes, Dr. Farmer says, patients will come into Houston Smile Docs with one lower tooth that sticks up above the rest. For these patients, the problem causes a lot of distress because of the way it looks. Fortunately, there is an easy and quick solution. With cosmetic recontouring, a dentist can actually reduce the size of the lower tooth by removing small amounts of the enamel until it is level with all of the other teeth. Unlike orthodontics, which could take months to produce a change, recontouring can be done without having to do a whole lot to the teeth. It is yet another way, she explains, to deliver impressive results in a short period of time.

Prices for cosmetic recontouring vary from patient to patient but are usually comparable to the price of bleaching the teeth. When patients choose cosmetic recontouring, she says, they are making a permanent investment in their smiles.

Of course, says Dr. Farmer, the treatments required to achieve the perfect smile can differ from case to case. The important thing to remember, however, is that plenty of affordable options do exist; it’s just a matter of talking to a dentist and selecting the most effective procedures.
