Using Invisalign to Treat Bite Corrections

Orthodontists are able to treat far more patients with Invisalign now than they were just five or six years ago. This is due to a number of factors, the most important of which has to do with the latest innovations in Invisalign technology.

As the technology behind Invisalign improves, orthodontists like Dr. Steven Kazley are able to treat more complex cases. A Rochester Invisalign specialist at Kazley Orthodontics, Dr. Kazley says that he can potentially treat 90% to 95% of all orthodontics cases with Invisalign nowadays.

The limitations around Invisalign are falling quickly, and a big part of that has to do with the experience of the orthodontist. As more Rochester Invisalign providers become comfortable with this new technology, Dr. Kazley expects more and more orthodontists to start moving beyond traditional metal braces when treating complex cases.

Bite corrections are one such problem that was once thought to be too difficult to fix with Invisalign. Dr. Kazley says he now feels more comfortable treating bite discrepancies with Invisalign, in part because he has been using Invisalign for a number of years and he has enough experience with the product to know what to expect as far as success rates are concerned. The more experience a practitioner has with Invisalign, the more comfortable he or she is going to feel expanding the capabilities of the product.

At his practice in Rochester, NY, Dr. Kazley uses Invisalign in the treatment of all but the top 5% to 10% of difficult cases for adult patients. Of course, that statistic only includes those patients with fully erupted teeth. Dr. Kazley is quick to point out that Invisalign is not perfect for every patient, especially younger patients who haven not gotten rid of all of their primary teeth just yet.

Although Invisalign should not be used for people at the youngest and earliest stages of orthodontic treatments, it is completely safe for people at most every other end of the spectrum. At Kazley Orthodontics, Dr. Kazley has been offering Rochester Invisalign treatments for as long as anyone else in the area, and he does a good number of cases using Invisalign on a yearly basis.

This is part of the reason he is so comfortable using Invisalign for bite correction cases, since orthodontists who have more experience with this technology are generally more willing to push the envelope in that regard and try things like correcting bites with Invisalign.
