Fashion-Forward Braces

Teenagers in New York City are a stylish bunch, especially on the Upper East Side. Invisalign and In-Ovation L braces are just two of the popular styles of orthodontic treatment for teenagers who want a low-profile look, according to Dr. Sinh T. Ta DDS.
At her practice on the Upper East Side, Invisalign is offered by Dr. Ta, as well as a number of other aesthetically pleasing orthodontic options. Patients no longer have to wear traditional metal braces unless they want to, which is music to the ears of many teens who have been hesitant to wear braces in the past out of fear over how they would look.
These issues are especially prevalent in New York City because many teens are aspiring actors and actresses, which means they have to go on auditions on a regular basis. For patients who fall into this category, Dr. Ta says on the Upper East Side, Invisalign and In-Ovation L braces are two popular styles for teens.
Just about anyone can be considered a good candidate for Invisalign, with the exception of younger children who still have mixed dentition. A patient needs to have all of his or her adult teeth before starting with Invisalign. However, once all of those adult teeth have grown in, Invisalign can be used in some great ways. Invisalign aligners can fix teeth that are spaced too far apart, as well as teeth that overlap because of crowding.
Some of the most difficult orthodontic cases can now be treated with Invisalign, which Upper East Side patients who prefer wearing the clear aligners over traditional metal braces or lingual braces find to be beneficial.
Of course, Dr. Ta also points out that extremely severe orthodontic cases still have to be handled with traditional metal braces. However, only an orthodontist can tell for sure whether the issues that a patient is dealing with are severe enough to require an intervention with metal braces.
The time that it takes to treat an average orthodontic case with Invisalign is not necessarily any longer than the time it would take to treat the same case with metal braces or In-Ovation L braces, although that too would depend on the specific case at hand.
Although most patients love the idea of being able to wear braces without anyone knowing, not everyone wants to wear Invisalign specifically. Dr. Ta says that many teens are grossed out by the idea of having to take their aligners out during meal times – especially during the lunch hour at school. This is just a matter of preference, however it is something that needs to be discussed and determined before going through the time, energy, and expense of getting Invisalign. The system only works if the patient is willing to wear the aligners on a daily basis.
